HOURLY EMPLOYEE PAID TIME OFF AND ATTENDANCE POLICY Effective January 1, 2020, the Company is transitioning from a traditional vacation plan to a Paid Time Off (PTO) plan. Along with this transition, the Company is making a change to an existing benefit as well as providing you with additional benefits. Below is a discussion of this change and the increased benefits. CHANGE TO EXISTING BENEFITS SHORT-TERM DISABILITY WAITING PERIOD The company strives to provide employees with competitive benefits. Effective 1/1/2020, the Company’s STD plan will change from a 5-calendar waiting period to a five-working day waiting period before benefits are paid. After the waiting period and upon approval of the claim by The Hartford, employees can receive STD benefits of 60% of their regular weekly earnings for up to 25 weeks. Where available, PTO (as discussed below) must be used for the five-working day waiting period. During the waiting period, each day reduces your available PTO by 8 hours. Employees that have enough PTO accrued to cover all or most of the absence may elect to use PTO for the leave instead of receiving disability benefits. Employees still have an obligation to initiate a claim with The Hartford, even if they do not plan on drawing disability benefits Employees that elect to receive disability benefits may not use PTO as a 40% offset for the disability benefit; but may substitute one day of PTO for one day of STD. For example, if you are receiving a 60% disability benefit, electing to use two days of PTO will allow you to draw 100% of your regular weekly earnings. It is your responsibility to budget your PTO appropriately so that you will not be financially impacted by any absences for personal illness or injury. NEW BENEFITS The two new benefits discussed below are paid, and must be used, in 8-hour increments only, regardless of your assigned schedule. Payment for these benefits does not count toward hours worked for purposes of calculating overtime. ADDITIONAL PERSONAL HOLIDAY The Company will begin providing two (2) paid personal holidays. Personal holidays must be used within the benefit year in which they are granted. New employees will receive two personal holidays when they become benefit-eligible and those personal holiday hours must be used by December 31 of the calendar year in which the hours were granted. FMLA may apply – please see your HRBP for information.
