Tolleson Employee Handbook
No Call/No Show - Unreported Absence: Three (3) points will be assessed to employee’s record. Points assessed for no call/no shows will remain active for one year (365 days) from the date of occurrence. Abandonment: An employee who is absent for two (2) consecutive scheduled workdays, without notice, shall be considered to have voluntarily terminated his/her employment with/from the active employment roster. Exceptions to Corrective Action Process steps must be recommended by superintendent and approved by Human Resources Business Partner and/or Plant Manager. Continued Illness: Two (2) points are charged for the first day of absence. Each subsequent day will be charged one (1) point each to a maximum of six (6) points, and the employee is required to continue to call in daily. (This only applies to absences). If the employee provides valid medical certification for their absence, the maximum points charged for the continued absence will be two (2); daily call in is still required. Employees that fail to provide proper notice or no call will be subject to one (1) additional point for the day of the late call or no call of the continued illness. The employee is required to call in for his/herself, unless for medical reasons that deem it impossible. Employees with illness more than three (3) days must contact the HR Department to determine if their condition may be covered by FMLA Doctor’s Certificate: A doctor’s certificate may be required by the Company for sick pay purposes (if available) and to establish “fit for duty.” Receipt of a doctor’s certificate does not excuse the attendance points. Proper Notice: Proper notice is defined as a minimum of two (2) hours’ notice before the scheduled start of your shift. Such notice must be made to the call in line of the employee’s department to be considered proper. Suspension: Defined as one (1) complete shift. A second attendance related suspension in a rolling 12 month period will subject the employee to termination without additional warning. DESCRIPTION OF NON-OCCURRENCES Vacation: An authorized absence scheduled and approved one (1) week prior to the day such vacation commences. The acceptable absence period shall be limited to the amount of continuous vacation days authorized, as governed by the vacation policy. Holiday: Absence to observe established holidays as authorized per the holiday policy. Bereavement: Absence resulting from the death of family member as authorized by the governing bereavement policy. Jury Duty & Witness Service: Is defined as absence resulting from jury duty or subpoenaed witness service as authorized by the governing policy. Military Service: Absence to fulfill military obligation as defined by the Military Selective Service Act and as authorized by any other policy or contract.
